The Challenges
Maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality is hugely important in safeguarding any legal form or contract. The client, therefore, looked to bolster the security of their web application, which contained multiple DIY forms, agreements, and contracts.
The web application already existed. However, what was missing was the encryption mechanisms to protect the app's forms. Preserving every DIY form was essential because it held confidential user data like name, address, financial details, and healthcare decisions. Without robust encryption, each form or contract could be prone to cyber-attacks, leading to legal complications.
It was essential to safeguard every legal form with security keys. Powerful cybersecurity solutions had to be encoded to allow only authorized persons to access the forms, and robust security protocols had to be implemented to prevent all unauthorized sources from tampering with the forms.
To meet these needs, the client required a knowledgeable tech partner. They came across Capital Numbers’ previous projects, were impressed by them, and considered us the best team for handling complex data encryption tasks.
Implementing encryption algorithms was the best way to prevent unauthorized intrusions. With solid encryption keys, the client could ensure that no brute force could ever hijack legal forms or documents in the app. However, our team also had to skillfully combine encryption keys with cryptographic methods to ensure even better stability for forms and associated networks, messages, URLs, and microservices within the app.
Solutions We Offered
Considering the requirements, Capital Numbers began using asymmetric encryptions in the WordPress and MySQL-powered application backend. We combined asymmetric encryption with cryptographic keys to shield legal forms, documents, contracts, agreements, messages, microservices, networks, and URLs.
Asymmetric encryption uses a pair of keys - one public and one private. This means that even if someone intercepts the public key, they can't decrypt the data without the corresponding private key, making it virtually impossible for unauthorized parties to access sensitive information. Even if an illegal source tries to access sensitive information, they will only find jumbled, randomized text beyond human recognition.
Next, we used hashing with mathematical functions like SHA-256 to ensure data immutability and integrity across the app. SHA-256 adds high-level security, ensuring critical data like passwords, files, and other security tokens remain unchanged during transfers or transmissions.
Additionally, we created custom APIs to ensure a seamless data exchange between the application and other connected systems. We also ensured application data gets routed through the VPN tunnel to prevent hackers from trying to intercept information with DDoS attacks.
Aside from working on complex data encryption and cybersecurity solutions, we worked on the frontend using Vanilla.js. We made the frontend highly navigable. We improved the location-based search using Cludo API to help users find top attorneys in their area. Moreover, we made the app SEO-friendly. We also made it compliant with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) to make the texts readable to the visually impaired, allowing accessibility for all.
It was a two-year project involving extensive use of encryption algorithms and security keys. Iterative development coupled with utmost diligence in process implementation helped us refine every encryption method, bringing precision at all stages of our work.
