The Challenge

The client wanted an application for Apple watch in which users can see daily news updates and manage their notifications to get tailored news updates.

Because this app is for a smaller-screened smartwatch, the design needs to be clean and simple. He wanted users to be able to access their news while driving or working without having to put aside what’s at hand. He also needed users to be able to adjust the content feed to match their interests, so they’re not flooded with irrelevant stories.

The Solution

Gems News for Watch is a cleanly formatted news app for Apple watch.

Users are notified of every news alert and can view selected news stories in detail at their convenience in an accessible, hands-free design.

The shopper downloads the app, then enters their zipcode in the space provided. The app displays all nearby EZKosher-registered grocery stores and supermarkets, along with the delivery time and total cost of any pending orders at a particular store. If a shopper has not signed into the app, they will be asked to do so before accessing a store's page.

Once a shopper has signed in and selected a store they can view the store's page, which has many features to facilitate the shopping experience. At the top of a page is a countdown which tells the shopper how much time they have to make an order and meet the next delivery slot deadline. Below that is the Chat with Us option, so that a user can access the EZKosher's in-house team at any time during their shopping experience.

The app also features an advanced voice option, so users can listen to the news at their convenience.

Notifications

The Gems News app features news notifications that users can customize to fit their needs. Notifications include a photo, title, and keywords so users can easily identify news that interests them and access the full articles. A notification is sent out with each update, so users stay in touch with current events.
